House Snooping

Do you ever check out houses while you’re out driving around?  We do it all the time, especially since we moved to our current house, which isn’t too far from the coast. There are some really fancy-shmancy houses right near the coastline.

I just found this house the other day.  It was huge!

Here are some of the views of the water from this house.  Not too shabby, eh?

When we first moved here, Rob was really interested in buying a house really close to the water.  But then we saw the prices some (modest!) houses were going for, even if they were rundown shacks.  Yikes!  We live further inland, but we’re still within easy driving distance to the coast.  We still get the fun of being able to see the ocean whenever we want, without the huge price tag.  We still like to look at all the fancy houses along the shore, and wonder what they cost.  I also wonder what it costs to heat some of those houses during a New England winter!

Do you ever peek at big houses when driving around?  Do you wonder what they look like inside? (I do!!)  If we see a “for sale” sign on a house we’re curious about, we like to snoop around on the real estate web sites, so we can see pictures of the inside.  (Told you I’m nosy!)

BLOG NEWS!

Tomorrow, October 1st, is the first anniversary of our blog!  I really can’t believe that it’s been a year.

In honor our our 1st Blogiversary, we’ll be doing a giveaway that starts TOMORROW!  Be sure to come back and check it out!

A great big THANK YOU to all of our readers over the past year!  We really appreciate all of our readers.

Busy Weekend, and Bloggy Business

Wow, what a Saturday we’ve had so far!  Today I helped Handy Man start to put the vinyl siding on the shed.  We finished two sides today.

I bought Handy Boy’s Halloween costume today (no, I don’t sew).  He is going to be Spongebob this year.

We took out our containers of fall decorations.  I will probably put up our  fall decorations tomorrow.

More shed siding tomorrow (the project that will never end!), and who knows what else.  I have a lot more shed photos to post.

I also wanted to say THANK YOU to all of our readers, new and old.  Yesterday, our blog hit an all-time record for hits!  We were amazed!  I hope that you’ve enjoyed reading, and that both old and new readers will keep coming back.  I’ve enjoyed reading your comments, reading lots of other blogs, and meeting other bloggers online as well.

Thanks to Remodelaholic and Frugal and Fabulous Design for being the first two blogs to feature us on their blogs.  We were delighted!

Our one year blogging anniversary is coming up on October 1st.  I can’t believe it!  We’re looking to do some giveaways to celebrate.  Do you have a product or gift certificate you would like to give away to promote your business or blog?  If anyone wants to participate in a giveaway the first week of October, please let us know.  Your giveaway should be related to the topics on our blog.  Please email us to discuss at handymancraftywoman@gmail.com.

We’re also looking for guest bloggers for the first week of October.  Do you have photos of a before and after renovation project, a great recipe, an organizing project, etc, that would fit in with our blog?  Please email us to discuss.

Lots to come next week!

Small Giveaway: Coupons from All You Magazine!

I will be getting back to my “Declutter 365 items in 365 days” series soon; and I’ll be wrapping up our “After” kitchen photos soon, too.

Today I want to try something a little different: a small coupon giveaway.  I signed up online to get two years of “all you” magazine for WICKED cheap.  It’s your typical women’s magazine; with articles about parenting, saving money, health tips, etc. But, this magazine is JAM PACKED with loads of coupons!  I was so excited to try and find coupons in this magazine that I could use when I went grocery shopping.

Then I got the magazine…the magazine is great, mind you…but the coupons?  There are loads of them (worth $47.13 this month!), but they are for items or brands I don’t buy, and some are for items that I don’t even think they carry in our area.

So, what am I going to do?  I’m going to cut them out and mail them all away to one lucky person.  You can see the list of coupons available in this month’s February issue of All You here on their website.

Now, you may not be able to use all of the coupons, but maybe you can trade some, or share them with family or friends who might use them.  Here’s what to do to enter into this small giveaway:

– Enter a comment for this post. You must enter your email address; only I will see your emal address, it won’t show to “the world”

– In your comment, please type one quick and easy tip that you use to save money when grocery shopping.

– Comments will be accepted until 10 pm eastern on Wednesday, January 27th.

– I will randomly choose one commenter, and will mail all of the coupons from the magazine to the winner by the end of the week.  Entries from the United States only please!

Good luck!
